The much anticipated University of Nairobi’s research week 2020 has officially kicked off.

This year’s research week was curtain raised by the department of Business Administration’s (DBA) 5th Africa Management Review International Conference.

Speaking during the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama said, “The research week is a platform for sharing experiences, building research capacity and sharing research findings and outcomes to maximize the usefulness of research.”

The Vice Chancellor noted that the University of Nairobi recognized the significance of research in development. “As part of our strategic direction, we continue to make a conscious and deliberate effort to support the achievement of the national development agenda by tapping into expertise from all our research disciplines.” He said.

In his remarks, Deputy Vice Chancellor Research Innovation & Enterprise, Prof. Horrace Ochanda said, “This is the third year we are hosting the research week, research week is a strategic decision to provide scholars, researchers and students an opportunity to engage with stakeholders in respective fields.”

Prof. Ochanda added, the research week was specifically intended to foster discussions on research activities and findings, create a platform for presentation of academic papers and showcase innovation illustrations as well as foster and strengthen partnerships with other players in the research enterprise across various sectors.”

College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) Principal Prof. Mohamud Jama said the DBA’s Africa Management Review International Conference was timely and would provide solutions to problems facing the public and private sector.

A record 745 paid global participants from academia, government and industry are involved in the research week 2020 where more than 300 papers will be presented. During the weeklong event, there will be more than 40 keynote presentations and 13 virtual conferences.
